Thanks to The Atlantic's Word Court

Remember the last time you made "advance reservations" at your favorite restaurant? Well, you no longer have to do that. In fact, if you just call and make "reservations" you should be fine.

Writes The Atlantic's Barbara Wallraff in the January/February installment of Word Court:

There is no such thing as a reservation that isn’t made in advance, so the common phrase advance reservations is silly and redundant.
